Dr. Michael Heit is currently the Director of the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Indiana University/Methodist Hospital.  He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Medical Specialities. He has a Masters of Science in Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from the University of Louisville. He is well published in the medical literature having conducted many investigator initiated research projects including an NIH funded study entitled "A Model for Explaining Differences in Incontinence Care Seeking [MEDICS].”  His research interests include female illness behavior.

 

Dr. Heit completed his fellowship training in 1994 at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago with Linda Brubaker MD, MS, an internationally recognized expert in the field. He headed the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and the accredited fellowship program at the University of Louisville School of Medicine from 1994-2004.

Dr. Heit is an active member of multiple medical societies including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Urogynecology Society, and the International Urogynecology Association.
